The Senay Gedam consists of the families of the sons and daughters of Ato (Melake Arayam) Senay Bogale and W/o Gedamnesh Ayele. Ato Senay and W/o Gadam  (Senay Gedam) had raised 11 children (9 boys and 2 girls) in their home town of Dangla, Gojjam, Ethiopia. These are Ato Tesfa-Selassie (late), Ato Zemenu (late), Captain Fasika (late), Ato Eddle, Lt Tigist (late), Ato Dereje, Sister Hawltesim, Ato Higemengiest, Sister Heyentework, Engineer Michael and Dr. Gabriel.

 

The 9 surviving children and their children/grandchildren reside in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar) and the United States. As of January 2019, there are 56 members of the Senay Gedam family. 

 

 

The Family Memoir:

The Senay Gedam Family compiled the memories of grandparents in a family memoir "Senay Gedam Tafach F'rae", published in 2012 to coincide with the inauguration of the Library. Although the book is largely written in Amharic, some sections, including contributions from grandchildren, are documented in English. A few copies of the Book are also available at the Library.
